Up for sale is a 1977 Bronco Ranger with 139,455 miles. This is the last year the early broncos were made and it is one of the most desirable. The 1977 bronco had a big bearing 9 inch rear axel, Danna 44 front axel, power steering, power disc brakes, 302, automatic transmission. 1976 and 1977 were the only years with power disc brakes and 1977 was the only year with a heavy-duty rear end housing. Also unique to 1977 gas tank doors instead of exterior mounted caps and a 14.4 plastic tank with an 8-gallon auxiliary tank.
This bronco has never been lifted or modified. It has the original engine, trans, ect. The only upgrade was 31 spline axels and a Detroit Locker. I am the 3rd owner of this bronco and it was family owned before me. It was built later in 1977 (June 3) and was towards the end of production.
This bronco is not perfect by any means. I was going to fully restore it, but I have too many projects. It is a great running truck that was my daily driver for a while and has been the most fun out of any vehicle I have driven. I have the original build sheet of the car and I have a Deluxe Marti report (Details and statistics of the bronco authorized by Ford).
I have a hardtop and Bikini top in good condition (Both are White).
Here are the following details of the Bronco:
Smog:
Yes, it is within the years to get smoged, but it passed on Friday with only 4 Hydrocarbons at idle and 92 at 2500 RPMs
Engine:
Rebuilt approximately 9,000 miles ago. All original with motor craft carb and smog system.
Battery:
Interstate battery, 1 year old.
Transmission:
Shifts smooth and was rebuilt about the same time as the engine.
Rearend:
Rebuilt about 6,000 miles ago. A full rebuild took place of new bearings. 31 spline axels were upgraded and a Detroit Locker was put in. The gear ratio is 3.50 and originally came with limited slip. The front axel has never been rebuilt to my knowledge.
Transfer case:
Works fine, I never use it though. It has not been rebuilt to my knowledge.
Suspension:
Original suspension minus brand new front coils.
Steering:
Power steering works great and is original.
Wheels and Tires:
Wheels are 15 inch. New 31 Cooper ATR tires with only 1,000 miles on them. Almost new BFG All Terrain 31 spare
Interior:
Original cloth/vinyl seats (part of the ranger package). Panels that are in it now are diamond plate, but I have all the original paneling. New blue carpet and aluminum trim. The front bucket seat bottoms have rips.
Sound System:
I did not cut holes for the speakers in any of the original paneling nor a hole for the CD player. The JVC deck is mounted underneath the dash and the 2 Infinity Kappa Speakers are mounted in the diamond plating.
Brakes:
Power disc brakes with rear drums. Good stopping power and plenty of life left. In 1976, 11 X 2.25” rear drums were standard.
This is an extremely fun truck and I am sad to list it, but I have too many cars and I am still in college.
Body:
Has some scratches and dents. It is not perfect but is presentable. It is painted in Bright Medium Blue paint (original color). There were only 633 that year painted in this color. For more stats, look at the Marti Report.
Rust:
No serious rust. No rust in the floors some on the doors and other various parts of the truck.
TITLE:
Unfortunately it earned a salvage title in the 80’s. This does not affect how the bronco runs or drives. I currently have full insurance on it.
Parts:
I have various extra parts that can come with the bronco if you want them.
